Rachel was a woman in the Bible who was beautiful & had a man who worked to marry her for 14 years. Once she was married she wasn’t able to bear any children when she wanted to. She prayed for a child & promised God that she would dedicate them to him. Eventually, she had 2 sons and chose to trust God with their lives & futures.
I remember reading this years ago in 2020 thinking I would trust God & lay her future completely in his hands. Tragedy struck our family shortly after & I quickly realized I wasn’t ready nor did I know I would need to trust him in real time with her life. I’m too big of a control freak for that. I mean who could possibly know how to raise my daughter better than me. The woman who has single-handedly done it for the past 12 & did a mighty fine job at it for being so young & Ill prepared to do it alone.
I’ve been interested in Rachel lately because of that moment I had with God in 2020. I’ve been wondering what came next for her kid after she dedicated her son’s life to Him.
Well, amazingly she bore 2 sons & they both grew up to be great men of God & to be great leaders of their own cities & tribes. Jesus was also born from her lineage.
This encourages me because I needed to know trusting God with my daughter would be worth it. I am still waiting for the results of my faith. In the mean time I believe it was appropriate to mourn my loss, but what can be praiseworthy if there was never anything that needed to be overcome?
